Cubs Fans Celebrate Game 1 Win In Wrigleyville

CHICAGO (CBS) -- When Miguel Montero hit a grand slam Saturday in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series, it wasn't just a win for the Cubs, it was a win for Wrigleyville.

Fans locally filled the streets of Wrigleyville after the 8-4 win against the Dodgers, CBS 2's Charlie De Mar reports.

After the win, Cubs fans spilled out into the streets, some from Wrigley Field, others from local bars and homes.

Fans said they were nervous when the Dodgers tied up the game in the top of the eighth, but they never lost faith. And while even Cubs manager Joe Maddon couldn't have envisioned how the game played out, it was a win all the same.

"I told my wife, this guy is going to pull it," one fan said. "He hits a grand slam, I went crazy ... I think we're going to be champs this year."

"You should never give up on these guys," another fan said. "Maddon, he's a genius, what can I say."

Fans will make it back to Wrigleyville for Game 2 on Sunday, with a 7:08 p.m. first pitch on tap. The hometown call can be heard on 670 The Score.
