Cubs' David Ross Homers In Wrigley Field Finale, Gets Multiple Curtain Calls

(CBS) Cubs veteran catcher David Ross, in his final season in the big leagues, had quite the night in his final regular-season game at Wrigley Field on Sunday.

The 39-year-old Ross received standing ovations each time he went to the plate, hit a solo homer in the fifth inning to open the scoring and also received a curtain call and huge ovation with two outs in the top of the seventh, when manager Joe Maddon pulled him from the game to give him one last special moment in front of the home fans.

The Cubs led the Cardinals, 2-0, through seven innings.

On Friday, the Cubs honored Ross in pregame ceremonies with a video tribute and gifts. It brought him to tears.

Take a look below Maddon utilizing the rarely seen mid-inning defensive replacement so all eyes could be on Ross.
