Cubs Claim Left-Hander Mike Kickham Off Waivers From Giants

(CBS) The Cubs have claimed left-handed reliever Mike Kickham off waivers from the Giants, they announced Wednesday afternoon.

The 26-year-old Kickham made his major league debut in 2013 with San Francisco, going 0-3 with a 10.98 ERA in 14 appearances, including three starts. He spent most of 2014 at Triple-A Fresno, where he was 8-8 with a 4.43 ERA in 27 starts.

Kickham was originally picked by the Giants in the sixth round of the 2010 amateur draft. He attended Missouri State.

Chicago has also lost catcher Ryan Lavarnway to Baltimore and first baseman Shane Peterson to Milwaukee in the waiver process. Both had been claimed by the Cubs last Friday.
