Cubs Claim Left-Handed Reliever C.J. Riefenhauser

(CBS) The Cubs have claimed left-handed reliever C.J. Riefenhauser off waivers from the Orioles and designated reliever Edgar Olmos for assignment.

Riefenhauser, 26, has pitched the last two seasons with Rays, going 1-0 with a 6.30 ERA in 24 relief appearances. He was twice traded this offseason, first to the Mariners and then to the Orioles, before being designated for assignment last Friday.

Riefenhauser went 4-2 with a 2.86 ERA in 29 relief appearances with the Triple-A Durham Bulls last season.

Olmos was designated for assignment by the Cubs for the second time this offseason.

The Cubs meet for spring training in Mesa, Arizona, on Feb. 20.
