Cubs' Chris Coghlan Is Returning To Game Action At Triple-A
(CBS) Cubs outfielder Chris Coghlan is set to return to game action Thursday night for the first time in his rehab assignment at Triple-A Iowa.
Coghlan is set to hit second and play left field for the I-Cubs. He arrived earlier in the week and has been doing work but hadn't been playing in games yet.
Coghlan suffered a rib injury in a collision with shortstop Addison Russell on a fly ball on Aug. 16. He finished that game but was placed on the 15-day disabled list a day later.
The 31-year-old Coghlan is hitting .222 with five RBIs and a .710 OPS in 27 games for the Cubs this season. He was acquired in a midseason trade with the Athletics. For the season, he's hitting .165 with five homers, 19 RBIs and a .549 OPS in 78 games.
