Cubs Call Up Joe Nathan, Option Adam Warren To Triple-A

(CBS) The Cubs have called up right-hander Joe Nathan and optioned right-hander Adam Warren to Triple-A Iowa.

The 41-year-old Nathan's promotion marks the end of a long road back, as he tore his ulnar collateral ligament and flexor pronator in his right elbow early last season. He underwent Tommy John surgery in April 2015 and has been rehabbing since.

A six-time All-Star with 377 career saves, Nathan made just one appearance before suffering his elbow injury in 2015. He had a 4.81 ERA in 62 appearances for the Tigers in 2014. He has a 2.89 ERA for his career.

Nathan had a 3.86 ERA in 11 appearances in the minor leagues this season.

Warren is 3-2 with a 5.91 ERA and 1.43 WHIP this season for the Cubs.
