Cubs' Addison Russell Drills Grand Slam, Ties World Series Record For RBIs In A Game

(CBS) Cubs shortstop Addison Russell tied a World Series record with six RBIs in a single game Tuesday night -- and it was only the third inning.

Russell drilled a grand slam in the third inning to give the Cubs a 7-0 lead against the Indians in Game 6 at Progressive Field. Coupled with a bloop two-run double in the first inning that was due into miscommunication in the Indians outfield, that tied Russell with Bobby Richardson (1960), Hideki Matsui (2009) and Albert Pujols (2011) with six RBIs in a single World Series game, per Baseball Reference. Russell likely has a couple more at-bats left Tuesday as well.

Russell's grand slam off Cleveland reliever Dan Otero went 434 feet and left the bat with a 108-mph exit velocity, per MLB Statcast.

It's worth noting Russell is 22 and isn't afraid to act like the youngster he is.

Russell's blast caught the attention of the Blackhawks, who were simultaneously hosting a game of their own against the Flames at the United Center, as well as many fans in bars across the city, such as at Old Crow in Wrigleyville.
