Cubs Acquire Veteran Reliever Fernando Rodney From Seattle

(CBS) As the Cubs look to lock down a National League wild-card spot, they've made another move to support their bullpen.

The Cubs acquired veteran reliever Fernando Rodney from the Seattle Mariners on Thursday evening, they announced. Rodney, 38, pitched for Cubs manager Joe Maddon in Tampa, saving a career-high 48 games in 2012.

Rodney's had a rough 2015, with a 5.68 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 50 2/3 innings.

In exchange, the Chicago Cubs will offer a player to be named later or cash.
