CTA Continues Chicago Cubs World Series Celebration With Special Train And Bus
CHICAGO (CBS) – The CTA announced Saturday new Chicago Cubs World Series-themed rail cars and buses to continue the city's celebration.
"With this Chicago Cubs World Series Championship, Chicago has made history once again," said Mayor Emanuel. "We want to further showcase our city by celebrating with our residents and giving CTA riders the chance to continue savoring the victory."
The CTA wrapped four Red Line rail cars and the #152 bus with complete exterior designs, such as the "W" flag and Cubs logos.
The train will be in service beginning Monday on the Red Line and will run for a week, according to a CTA release. The Red Line's route includes a stop at the Addison station, which brings riders to Wrigley Field.
The special #152 Addison bus will also run for a week. The bus route includes a stop right in front of the ballpark at Clark and Addison.
"We want to continue the celebration in Chicago with our customers by offering a special train and bus that commemorates the Cubs World Series victory, especially on the train and bus routes that carries millions to Wrigley Field during this unforgettable season," said CTA President Carter. "We look forward to celebrating with our customers and allowing them to extend the celebration into next week."
The CTA also put into service last month another Cubs-themed bus to mark the team's NLCS victory, the CTA stated in the release. They also offered a similar commemoration in the Chicago White Sox 2005 World Series victory, by running White Sox-themed rail cars on the Red Line, which makes a stop at Sox Park-35th Street.
