CTA Blue Line service resumes after phony bomb threat at Rosemont station

CBS News Chicago

CTA Blue Line train service returned to normal late Tuesday morning, after a false bomb threat temporarily halted trains at the Rosemont stop.

Around 9:35 a.m., the Chicago Transit Authority suspended service on the Blue Line between the Jefferson Park and O'Hare stops. Rosemont police said they received a call of a bomb threat in a vehicle in the Rosemont station parking lot, and cleared the area while a Chicago police bomb tech checked the vehicle.

Shuttle buses were set up between Jefferson Park and O'Hare while the investigation was underway.

After determining the bomb threat was false, police gave the all-clear, and the CTA resumed normal service on the Blue Line by around 10:40 a.m.

The person who made the false bomb threat was found at the scene and was arrested. Police said they were seeking approval for charges of disorderly conduct and burglary to a motor vehicle.
