Massive Fire Sweeps Through House In Skokie

SKOKIE, Ill. (CBS)-- A big investment may have gone up in smoke in Skokie Tuesday.

A fire broke out Tuesday morning at a house on Fargo Avenue between Niles Center Road and the Edens Expressway.

According to officials, the fire extended from the basement to the second floor and then to the attic.

The house was empty because it was being rehabbed by a Pilsen-based property management company.

The company hopes the home is salvageable.

"Perhaps the shell of the building is salvageable and we can put it back together," said Jason Donajkowski, managing broker at Paragon Property Management Group. "I'll guess we'll see."

The property manager said the house was two weeks away from being done and put on the market.

No one was hurt in the fire. There was no word on the cause late Tuesday.
