House destroyed by fire in Crete, Illinois
A home was destroyed by fire Monday afternoon in southwest suburban Crete.
Flames shot out of the roof of the home in the 24400 block of Patriot Lane.
Homeowner Terrence Lee said three adults, two children, and a dog all got out safe, but they are struggling with the loss of mementos they had saved of a child who died a few years ago.
"All of my daughter's memories, my keepsakes of my daughter who passed away. We had a memorial for her, a lock of her hair," he said. "I've got two younger kids. All of their keepsakes and memories and stuff is gone."
It was not immediately clear what started the fire.
