All inbound Kennedy Expressway lanes closed downtown after crash

Two people were killed early Sunday morning in a crash on the Kennedy Expressway in Chicago's West Loop.

At 1:46 a.m., Illinois State Police were called to the southbound Kennedy at Randolph Street for a two-vehicle crash.

A car was stopped in the lanes of traffic for reasons unknown when it was hit by another car headed in the same direction, state police said.

A total of five people in that first stationary car, and one from the car that hit it, were injured, state police said Two of those five people died.

Around 1:58 a.m., all lanes of the inbound Kennedy closed for a crash investigation.

All lanes reopened around 7:30 a.m.
