Couple, Son Dead In Apparent Murder-Suicide
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A couple in their 60s and 34-year-old their son were found dead Sunday night in Merrillville, Indiana, in what police said is an apparent murder-suicide.
Police were called to a home in the 3600 block of West 79th Avenue just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday. When they made it inside, they found a grisly scene; three people had been shot and killed.
The Lake County Coroner's Office was called in, and authorities quickly determined it appeared an elderly couple had been killed by their son, who then turned the gun on himself.
Police said 66-year-old John Meeks and 65-year-old Olga Meeks had been shot in the head. Their son Eric Meeks, 34, was also found dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
