Coroner Says Lt. Gliniewicz Died From Single Gunshot Wound
(CBS) -- We are learning more about the death of Fox Lake Police Lieutenant Joe Gliniewicz, reports WBBM's Steve Miller.
Lake County Coroner Dr. Thomas Rudd says Lt. Gliniewicz died of a single catastrophic gunshot wound. He would not say where the wound was but he says it was devastating.
"Devastating meaning he hit major organs and died fairly quickly," Dr. Rudd said.
Dr. Rudd said they are working on determining if the gunshot was from close range by examining the officer's garments and are waiting on analysis of the gunshot residue.
He says nothing has been ruled in or out regarding homicide, suicide or accident.
Lt. Gliniewicz was found dead in a remote area on the morning of September 1. He had radioed in a short time before that he was in pursuit of three men.
