Cops: Teen Videotaped 'Inappropriate Activity' In Elgin School Bathroom

(STMW) -- An 18-year-old man has been charged with videotaping two students who met in an Elgin high school bathroom for an "inappropriate activity," police said.

Steffon L. Pruitt, 18, was charged with unlawful recording of a person under the age of 18 in a restroom, a felony, according to Elgin police.

Pruitt allegedly made a video recording of two students who met in a bathroom at Larkin High School, 1475 Larkin Ave. in Elgin, for an "inappropriate activity," police said.

The students did not know Pruitt was recording them, police said. One of the students later learned of the video and that Pruitt forwarded it to other students.

The student told school officials, who reported the incident to police.

Pruitt, of the 500 block of Owasco Avenue in Elgin, appeared in bond court Thursday morning and was released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance May 16 in St. Charles.
