Cop Shoots Gunman Who Fired At Police
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Chicago police officer shot a man who fired a gun at police, as officers were responding to a call of a person with a gun in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.
Fraternal Order of Police spokesman Pat Camden said officers were responding to a 911 call about a man with a gun near 74th Street and Princeton Avenue around 4:15 a.m.
When officers arrived in the area, they saw three men standing on the corner, and approached to question them, Camden said. That's when one of the men ran off.
The Chicago Police News Affairs office said that man pointed a gun toward an officer who was giving chase, and fired at him. The officer returned fire, wounding the suspect.
The suspect was taken to a local hospital. A gun was recovered at the scene.
No officers were injured, police said.
The Independent Police Review Authority was investigating.
