Concrete Falls On Sidewalk After Parking Garage Crash

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A crash in an elevated parking garage in River North Sunday night caused pieces of concrete to fall to the sidewalk below and strike a pedestrian.

About 10:10 p.m., a female driver struck a parked car in a garage in the 500 block of North State Street, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said. The parked car then hit the side of the garage, causing concrete to fall and hit a 39-year-old female pedestrian, who refused medical attention.

The female driver, 72, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released. She received a citation for failure to reduce speed, police said.
