Compassionate Attendant Steers Deer To Streeterville Parking Garage

(CBS) -- Amid the quiet of the holiday morning, a deer was caught wandering Streeterville on Monday.

WBBM's Nancy Harty reports.

Samuel Semere works at a parking garage at Grand and St. Clair.

He says at 7 a.m. he saw a doe – a female deer – running down the street.

Semere says he and co-worker chased the animal into the garage. He says he wanted to protect the deer from traffic.

"I don't want her to get killed or get hurt," Semere says.

The deer may have come from the park near the water filtration plant at Navy Pier, he speculates.

The deer was tranquilized and taken to Animal Care and Control to be checked out. If all goes well, it will be relocated.
