Come On, Chicago Blackhawks Fans, Pick Up After Yourselves ... Next Time

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Walking down Wabash, the stench hung heavy in the aftermath.

The Loop smelled as if thousands of Blackhawks fans had vomited in open dumpsters and left them in the middle of the street. Many fans lingered, wandering and confused, seemingly oblivious to unseemly underbelly, the unwashed, the steaming landscape around them.

Here are some of the remnants on Wabash, just south of Monroe -- ground zero for the Blackhawks Stanley Cup championship parade.

That damp sidewalk isn't precipitation left over from the morning rainfall.

Just a short stroll to the east, at Michigan Avenue -- the gateway to the lovely Millennium Park -- Diana Tugui took this series of three photographs from her office perch.

The scene is beautiful, especially the middle photograph. It is what most of Chicago saw on television, and rightly so. It was a glorious day to be a fan and a citizen of this city.

What was left behind is unsettling.

In the last photograph, the garbage is obviously everywhere, but notice the change in the center median along Michigan Avenue -- where are the plantings are (or were).

Maybe we can do a bit better the fourth time around.
