Cleanup Of Storm Damage Along Lakefront Will Cost $100,000
(CBS) -- The Chicago Park District says it may be next week before the North Side lakefront path is back in shape again and open again, following last Friday's storms that tore out huge chunks of asphalt.
Rob Rejman, director of planning and development for the Chicago Park District, says it'll cost about $100,000 to clean up and put down new asphalt.
He says some of the chunks are 20-feet long.
The heaviest damage is between North Avenue and Oak Street.
On the South Side, the area hardest hit is between 47th Street and 51st Street. Most of that area is just debris-covered and needs cleaning up.
The Park District will try to start putting down new asphalt Tuesday. Rejman says officials hope to finish by the end of the week. Rain might delay the work.
