Cleanup Begins After Taste Of Chicago Wraps Up
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The food is gone; now all that's left is the cleanup of Grant Park following the 34th annual Taste of Chicago.
WBBM Newsradio's Nancy Harty reports power washers were competing with seagulls Monday morning as both attempted to dispose of leftover foot littering Columbus Drive in the wake of the annual food festival.
Tents still dotted the sidewalks; under which refrigerators, stoves, grills, and deep fryers sat abandoned – at least until restaurants remove them later in the day.
While the food and vendors are gone, one jogger running through Grant Park said there's an aspect of the taste that still lingered.
"You run through in the morning, you don't want to come back here in the evening or afternoon, because you're smelling all the remains from the day before," he said.
More than a million people are estimated to have attended this year's Taste of Chicago, despite losing out on one day of festivities due to Saturday's heavy rain.
