City To Begin Removing "Dibs" Markers On Friday

CHICAGO (STMW) -- If you've got lawn chairs or hat racks marking "dibs" on your parking spot, you might want to move them by Friday or they'll belong to the city.

City crews will begin collecting street obstructions, or "dibs," from city streets as early as Friday as snow continues to melt, according to the Department of Streets & Sanitation.

Crews will start by removing junk in the street that was reported via 311, according to a statement from Streets & San. Residents should remove all items from the street by Friday morning.

"As is the case with every winter season, once snow starts to melt, Streets & Sanitation crews begin to remove material from the public way," Commissioner Charles Williams said in the statement.

"I want to ask residents to be good neighbors and remove material from the public way to ensure it is not moved by our crews," William said.
