City Ice Skating Rinks To Stay Open For Extra Weekend
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Call it a small silver lining to an otherwise miserable winter: Cold temperatures mean the city's outdoor ice skating rinks can stay open an extra weekend this year.
Midway Plaisance Park, at 1130 Midway Plaisance North, will stay open through Sunday, and include open skate and rat hockey sessions, the Chicago Park District announced Monday.
Six other parks with outdoor rinks will be open again this coming Friday through Sunday, according to a release.
• McKinley Park, 2210 W. Pershing Rd.
• Mt. Greenwood Park, 3721 W. 111th St.
• Riis Park, 6100 W. Fullerton Ave.
• Rowan Park, 11546 S. Avenue L
• Warren Park, 6601 N. Western Ave.
• Wentworth Park, 5625 S. Mobile Ave.
The skating season was previously scheduled to end Feb. 23, but the cold temperatures are making it possible for the rinks to stay open, according to the park district.
Admission costs $3, but children and students with a valid ID are admitted for free. Skate rental costs $6, but adults can pay $7 for combined admission and skate rental.
