UPDATE: Christkindlmarket Closed Wednesday Due To Strong Winds

CHICAGO (CBS)-- Strong winds in Chicago have caused Christkindlmarket in Daley Plaza to close for the entire day on Wednesday.

Wind gusts of up to 60 mph have been blowing through the Chicago area throughout the day, prompting the famed German-themed holiday market to shut down.

Christkindlmarket organizers originally hoped to open around 4 p.m., but later said the market would be closed all day, and reopen at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Organizers also said the Christkindlmarket at Gallagher Way outside Wrigley Field would be closed all day Wednesday. Christkindlmarket has operated a Wrigleyville location since 2017.
