Chris Conte Still Harbors Plenty Of Resentment Toward Bears Fans: Eff You, Chicago

(CBS) Buccaneers safety Chris Conte still harbors plenty of resentment toward Bears fans regarding his much-maligned four-year tenure in Chicago.

After his team's 36-10 win against the Bears on Sunday that was highlighted by his own pick-six of former teammate Jay Cutler, Conte didn't hold back his thoughts. He was a punch line for the Bears' poor defense from 2011-'14, when he was often criticized on social media, radio airwaves and in print.

"I hate to make it personal, but for me it is personal," Conte told the Chicago Tribune. "It feels great. I don't want to say, '(Expletive) you, Chicago.' But, I want to say, '(Expletive) you, Chicago.'"

Conte is often remembered for being a part of one of the biggest blunders and gut punches in Bears history. In the 2013 finale, miscommunication by the Chicago defense resulted in Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers hitting a wide-open Randall Cobb on a game-winning fourth-down touchdown pass in the final minute, sending the Packers into the playoffs and the Bears home. Conte was the last line of defense on the play.

Conte's frustrations don't appear to involve his former teammates. It seems confined to the outside talk about him.

"I have a ton of respect for Jay Cutler," Conte told the Tribune. "I think he's a great quarterback, and I think he gets a bad rap in Chicago, like a lot of people do, including me."
