Chris Christie To Do 'Victory Lap' With Fellow Republican Rauner In Illinois

WASHINGTON, D.C. (AP) -- New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is beginning the year with a victory lap for fellow Republican governors.

Christie, who is seriously weighing a run for president, will attend Maryland GOP Gov.-elect Larry Hogan's swearing-in ceremony.

Hogan spokeswoman Erin Montgomery said Christie will attend the event on January 21.

Christie will also attend Florida Gov. Rick Scott's second inaugural in Florida next week.

Christie traveled extensively in his former role as chair of the Republican Governors Association ahead of the midterm elections. And it doesn't look like he's slowing down.

Later this month, he'll attend the Iowa Freedom Summit, a gathering of conservative activists.

He's also scheduled to speak Feb. 12 at the 8th Annual Northwest Suburban Republican Lincoln Day Dinner in Illinois.
