Silent Protest Against Rising Crime Held In Chinatown

CHICAGO (CBS)-- Feeling ignored, dozens of people walked in a silent protest in Chinatown Monday because of increasing crime in the neighborhood.

Businesses also closed for a couple of hours.

This comes weeks after Woom Sing Tse, 71, was shot 22 times and killed in Chinatown. The community has also seen an increase in armed robberies and carjackings.

"Everyone is heart broken in the community," one demonstrator said. "We want to put as a model; an example to call out everyone's actions to keep our community safe."

Organizers said they need to bring visibility to the issue so community leaders and politicians will prioritize the issue and their safety.
