Chicago Boy Burns His Legs Riding Bicycle Through A Fire

(CBS) -- An 11-year-old boy was hospitalized Monday after intentionally riding his bike through a fire in the Gresham neighborhood.

The incident happened around 3:15 p.m. in the 8600 block of South Peoria, police said, after a group of kids lit a bunch of books and other objects on fire.

One of the children rode his bicycle through the flames, and his pants caught fire. He suffered a second-degree burn to his left leg, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

He was taken in stable condition to Comer Children's Hospital.

The children  reportedly were playing with lighters and accelerant. An investigation continues.
