Child among 5 critically injured in crash on Eisenhower Expressway
CHICAGO (CBS) – Five people including a child were critically injured in a crash on the Eisenhower Expressway near Sacramento early Sunday morning.
Illinois State Police responded to a two-unit motor vehicle crash on Interstate 290 westbound near Kedzie Avenue around 2:13 a.m.
One vehicle was mangled, and a pick-up was truck flipped onto its roof.
Three adults were rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital, according to fire officials.
Another adult and child were taken to Stroger Hospital.
The ages of the victims are unknown.
Around 2:46 a.m. all lanes of Interstate 290 westbound at California Ave were closed for the investigation. All lanes were reopened at approximately 8:05 a.m.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
No further information was immediately available.
