Child, 5, Falls From Sixth-Floor Window In Des Plaines

(CBS) – A five-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital Saturday after falling from a sixth-floor window in northwest suburban Des Plaines.

The child fell from a condominium unit at 711 S. River Road and landed in a "mulched area" at the rear of the building, the Des Plaines Police Department said in a news release.

He was conscious and breathing when police and paramedics arrived. The child was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge; fire officials say the patient was in serious condition.

The fall is considered an accident. No further details were immediately available.
