Chicagoans Hold Vigil For Nepal Earthquake Victims

(CBS) -- Chicagoans are joining forces to help Nepal as the death toll nears 6,000.

More than 100 Chicagoans of Nepali descent gathered at Foster Avenue Beach Thursday evening. They lit candles in memory of the lives lost and prayed for their loved ones still in earthquake ravaged Nepal with aftershocks still happening.

"Eight million people were affected by the earthquake. That is, I think, one third of the country," Nepali American Rahi Gurung said.

The Kellogg School of Northwestern University has set up a site for donations.
