Chicago Woman Charged In Fatal Hit-And-Run Near United Center Last Month

(STMW) -- A Bridgeport woman was charged Thursday in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a man last month near the United Center.

Patricia Cucinotta, 53, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving injury or death and aggravated DUI causing a fatal accident, both felonies, according to police News Affairs.

The fatal accident happened Dec. 9 in the 300 block of South Damen Avenue, police said.

John Deweese, 56, suffered a traumatic brain injury when the vehicle hit him, and died a week later at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.

An autopsy found he died of complications from the injury, and listed cirrhosis of the liver as another factor in his death, the medical examiner's office said. His death was ruled an accident.

Cucinotta, of the 3200 block of South Lowe Avenue, will appear for a bond hearing Friday.
