Chicago Wolves Stranded By Flight Delays Ahead Of Playoff Game
(CBS) -- Chicago's other pro hockey team is a victim of the flight delays. It's left the Wolves in playoff limbo.
Already down two games to none in their best-of-seven American Hockey League Western Conference semi-final series to the Toronto Marlies, the last things the Wolves needed was for their flight to be canceled. And, says publicist Lindsey Willhite, it was.
He said United Airlines automatically rebooked the Wolves and their equipment for a flight on Thursday. The game is Wednesday night.
Ever since then, the team has been looking for ways to get to Toronto with their equipment.
Willhite says that 16 players and the Wolves' coaches are traveling overnight. But they are on a flight to Kitchener, Ont., that lands at 2 a.m. After that, they have to take a bus ride of two hours or more into Toronto. The rest MAY go on a 6 a.m. flight, although Willhite said he won't know till they get to the airport in the morning. Their equipment is on a third flight, that is expected to leave O'Hare at 6:45 a.m.
