Mild Weekend Ahead For Chicago

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A big warmup is ahead for Chicago this weekend, as temperatures could reach the low 50s on Saturday and Sunday.

Friday will be cold and calm, with a high around 35, and partly cloudy, so about what you'd expect for late January.

Temperatures will shoot up on Saturday, starting in the mid 30s, and reaching the upper 40s by the afternoon. It could even reach 50 degrees in some parts of the Chicago area, according to the National Weather Service.

Sunday will bring a chance of rain, and temperatures will be a few degrees warmer, as Chicago could see a high around 50, and some areas could a few degrees warmer.

Temperatures will drop back into the low 40s and upper 30s on Monday, when there's also a slight chance of rain and snow in the morning.
