Chicago Weekend Shootings: At least 30 people shot, including 6 fatally

CHICAGO (CBS) – At least six people were killed, and 23 others were wounded in shootings in weekend shootings across Chicago. The ages of the victims range from 15 to 77.

In the first shooting of the weekend, a 22-year-old man was shot while on the sidewalk in Auburn Gresham Friday evening.

Police say around 6:30 p.m., the victim was in the 8700 block of South Loomis Street when he was shot in the left leg by an unknown suspect.

The victim was taken to Christ Hospital in good condition.

About an hour later, a 17-year-old boy was shot inside of a residence, in the 3300 block of West Douglas Boulevard in the North Lawndale neighborhood around 7:38 p.m.

The teen was shot in the left arm by an unknown suspect and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.

Later in the evening, a 35-year-old man was shot to death inside a residence, in the 300 block of North Hamlin Avenue in Garfield Park around 10:36 p.m.

Police said the victim was at a gathering when he got into an argument with a known suspect who produced a handgun and shot him.

The victim was shot in the chest and was taken to Mt Sinai Hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The offender fled the residence in an unknown direction, according to police.

A 28-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk, in the 8100 block of South Escanaba Avenue in South Chicago around 11:37 p.m., when another man fired shots. 

The victim walked into Jackson Park hospital in good condition with a gunshot wound to the left leg.

At 11:34 a.m. Saturday, in the 0-100 block of North Jefferson Street, an 18-year-old woman was inside a business when she was shot in her abdomen. Sources tell CBS 2 she was inside a hotel in the Fulton Market area. 

She was taken to Northwestern Hospital in fair condition. Circumstances surrounding this incident are currently under investigation, Area detectives are currently questioning a person of interest. 

On Saturday evening, two 16-year-old boys were shot in the city's Bronzeville neighborhood and left in critical condition. According to the Chicago Police Department, the teens were on the sidewalk in the 3500 block of South State Street around 6:45 p.m. when they got into an argument with someone in a vehicle. That person then started shooting at the victims. 

One of the boys was shot in the chest. He was transported to Comer Children's Hospital in critical condition. The other boy was shot in the back and was also transported to Comer Children's Hospital in critical condition. 

Another person was killed in a shooting Saturday evening. Shortly before 6 p.m. in the 1200 block of West 73rd Street, a 25-year-old man was shot in the stomach while inside a home. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene, police say.

On Sunday afternoon, one teen was killed and another was injured while trying to buy shoes in an online marketplace exchange. According to CPD, the teens were in a parked vehicle in the 11900 block of South State just after 2 p.m. when  the seller took the victims' money and shot both of them. 

A 17-year-old victim, later identified as Jordan Nixon, was shot in the chest and pronounced dead. An 18-year-old was shot in the right elbow and transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition. 

Another teen was injured in a shooting a few hours later in the city's Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood. The 13-year-old boy was shot while walking on the sidewalk in the 100 block of East 67th Street around 8 p.m. when a car approached and someone inside fired shots. The boy was hit in the hip and taken to Comer Children's Hospital in fair condition. 

In other shootings from 5 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  • At 2:08 a.m. Saturday, in the 10300 block of South Union Avenue, a 15-year-old boy was walking through an alley when an occupant in a vehicle fired shots. The victim was dropped off at Roseland Community Hospital by a citizen in good condition with a gunshot wound to the left hand. 
  • At 3:08 a.m. Saturday, in the 5300 block of West Altgeld Street, a 28-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk when an occupant in a black sedan fired shots. The victim was transported by the Chicago Fire Department to Illinois Masonic Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead.
  • At 3:09 a.m. Saturday, in the 6100 block of North Avenue, a 77-year-old man was sitting in his vehicle when three male blacks exited a black Chevy SUV.  The suspects opened the victim's car door and attempted to rob him of his belongings.  A suspect then fired shots - striking the victim in the abdomen and arm before fleeing.  The victim was transported to Loyola Medicine in fair condition.
  • At 3:30 a.m. Saturday, in the 100 block of South Western Avenue, a 19-year-old was walking on the sidewalk when an occupant in a vehicle fired shots. The victim was dropped off at Mt. Sinai with a gunshot wound to the head in critical condition. The gender of the victim was not available.
  • At 6:07 p.m. in the 7400 block of South Stony Island Avenue, a 17-year-old boy was in a gas station parking lot when he was shot by an unknown person. He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition. 
  • At 6:59 p.m. Saturday in the 5800 block of South Carpenter, a 22-year-old man was on the sdiewalk when someone in a vehicle pulled up and started shooting. The victim was shot in the right foot and transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition. 
  • At 8:50 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of West 124th Street, a 19-year-old boy was a passenger in a vehicle when someone in another vehicle started shooting. The victim was driven to Advocate Trinity Hospital in fair condition with gunshot wounds to the face and shoulder. 
  • At 2:33 a.m. Sunday in the 800 block of East 80th Street, a 36-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk when someone shot him in the leg. He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition. 
  • At 2:37 a.m. Sunday in the 800 block of East 62nd Street, a 52-year-old man was found on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. No further information was immediately available. 
  • At 10:36 a.m. Sunday in the 3200 block of West Maypole, a 24-year-old man was shot in the arm and abdomen. He was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was listed in fair condition. 
  • At 10:42 a.m. Sunday, in the 4300 block of West Monroe, a 39-year-old man was outside when he was shot. He was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to his right hand and was listed in good condition.
  • At 11:55 a.m. Sunday at 2901 W. Irving Park Road, a 29-year-old man was shot in the upper chest as he walked down the street. No further information was available. 
  • At 2:35 p.m. Sunday in the 4100 bklock of West 61st Place, a 34-year-old man was shot in the lower back as he walked down the street. He was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition. 
  • At 2:06 p.m. Sunday in the 11600 block of South Bishop, a 28-year-old man was shot in the abdomen during a domestic incident. He was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition. 
  • At 6:04 p.m. Sunday in the 7200 block of South Honore, a 38-year-old man was inside a vehicle when he was shot in the leg. He was tranpsorted to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition. 
  • At 6:01 p.m. Sunday in the 5700 block of West Belden, an 18-year-old man was near a sidewalk when he was shot in the hand. He was transported to Community First Hospital in good condition. 
  • At 7:04 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of North Spaulding, a 35-year-old man was shot in the face. He was initially transported to Stroger Hospital in critical condition but later pronounced dead. 
  • At 7:21 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of West 77th, an 18-year-old man was shot. he was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. 
  • At 6:53 p.m. Sunday in the 8400 block of South Holland, two men, 22 and 23, were near a parking lot when someone pulled up in a dark vehicle. Two people got out of the vehicle, threatened the victims with guns, and robbed them. The victims complied, but were still shot. The 22-year-old was shot in the chest and transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. The 23-year-old was shot in the armpit and transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition. 
  • At 7:20 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of West 77th Street, an 18-year-old man was found lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
