Chicago Weather: Snow Returns Thursday Night

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Thursday is dry with increasing clouds through the afternoon.

Plenty of low level moisture and instability build into our area ahead of the next system.

Rain arrives after dark and changes to snow between 10 p.m. and midnight Thursday night.

Accumulating snow takes shape overnight into Friday morning. A narrow band of heavier snow is expected.

But we have to watch the storm track as the system gets closer to see what areas receive 3 to 5 inches.

Right now it looks like areas along and south of I-80 are favored for best accumulation. But that may change if the track jogs a little north or south.

Poor visibility and slick roads may be a big issue Friday morning.
