Chicago Weather: Strong Storms Likely Monday Night

CHICAGO (CBS)-- The Chicago area is at risk for severe storms Monday, particularly in the evening hours.

CBS 2 Meteorologist Rob Ellis explained Sunday night that pop-up storms started erupting in the Denver area earlier in the day, and became a stronger line of storms as they moved east toward the Kansas-Nebraska state line.

The storms, of course, have a long way to go until they reach the Chicago area – they will likely take 18 hours to arrive. Once they do, areas to the south of the city will likely be hardest hit.

While isolated storms are possible Sunday night, the most severe storms are likely coming Monday, with the chance of precipitation rising to 60 percent by 10 p.m. Monday night.
