CHICAGO (CBS) -- A strong cold front crosses our area around daybreak Friday, opening the door for stiff north/northeast winds and unseasonably cold air.

The high winds will create high waves of 5 to 10 feet along the Illinois shoreline, and waves of 8 to 13 feet for the Indiana shores.

There is a lakeshore flood threat all day for all areas, but the strong northerly winds last later into the night for the Indiana shoreline.
