Chicago Weather: Strong To Severe Storms Ahead

CHICAGO (CBS)-- One more hot day is ahead, with a chance of severe thunderstorms tonight.

Wednesday's temperatures are going to be in the low 90s with a heat index near 100 degrees.

Storms are possible in the afternoon and evening, bringing gusty winds. Stronger storms are expected across northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana.

The risk for severe weather has increased. Northeast Illinois, including northern Cook County, is under an enhanced risk for severe weather. damaging winds and heavy rain is expected from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Cooler conditions are ahead after the storms clear out.

Temperatures drop to the mid to upper 80s by Thursday.
