Chicago Weather: Gusty Winds On Thursday

CHICAGO (CBS) -- It will be quiet and mostly clear Wednesday night with light winds and lows in the mid-60s.

It will be warm again on Thursday with highs in the mid-80s.

The highest winds will be midday to early afternoon Thursday as the cold front moves in.

Winds could gust to 30-40 mph.

Along the front, there is a stray shower chance between 1 and 3 p.m. or so, but this front is more about a wind shift.

Southwest winds will be gusty ahead of the front.

Then later in the afternoon, a dominant northwest wind takes over. This will build waves at the Indiana beaches from Thursday afternoon through Friday afternoon, creating dangerous rip currents.

The next real rain chance arrives Sunday.
