Chicago Weather: Overnight Storm Threat

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Tornadoes were forming in Wisconsin along a line of severe thunderstorms Wednesday night.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for much of Wisconsin until 2 a.m. Thursday. The Storm Prediction Center is calling this a "Particularly Dangerous Situation" with wind gusts possible to 90 mph and hail to 2 inches.

Greater instability was seen across much of Wisconsin compared to our area. But this activity will get uncomfortably close to southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

It really depends on how it holds together as it gets closer to us. Models pull much of the thunderstorm activity across the lake and into western Michigan.

However, it is advisable to watch the tail of this line as the whole complex moves south ahead of the cold front.

If the storm track heads our way, timing would be 1 to 5 a.m.
