Chicago Weather Alert: Heavy rain, thunderstorms causing flooding concerns

CHICAGO (CBS) -- After a morning wave of intense storms, Chicagoland can expect another round on Wednesday afternoon, creating flooding concerns, hail, and the potential for tornadoes.

A Flood Watch is in effect for Cook, DuPage Will, and Lake (IN) counties until 7 p.m. Flash flooding will be a concern with rising water levels.

The next period of storms is expected to arrive between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Those storms have the potential to be severe, with damaging winds, large hail, and possible flooding.

Right now, here is a look at Chicago homes that have reported basement flooding or water in the street on Wednesday. The West Side has been hit hard.

The rain will taper off by Wednesday night.

Thursday will be sunny and warm, with chances for showers and thunderstorms.
