Chicago Vigils Continue For Orlando Victims

(CBS) – Chicago's LGBT community on Monday evening continuing showing its solidarity with Orlando.

Another round of vigils were held to honor the nearly 50 victims who died in this weekend's massacre by a lone gunman; several more were seriously wounded.

In Chicago's "Boystown" district, the event started on a somber note but quickly established this message: Hope and love will prevail.

"When there is hate, we in the city of Chicago bring love," Mayor Rahm Emanuel, one of the speakers at the Center on Halsted, told the gathered crowd.

For 25-year-old Ben Di'Costa, the vigil had a special meaning. A former employee of the Pulse nightclub that was the scene of the shooting, he knew several of the people who were killed or wounded.

"These people were my family," he said.

A separate vigil was held in the Logan Square neighborhood Monday evening.
