Chicago Police Officer Hurt, Fires Shot During Traffic Stop

(STMW) -- A Chicago Police officer was hurt and opened fire during a traffic stop Saturday night in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The officer was conducting a traffic stop at 112th and Halsted about 9:30 p.m. when the driver hit the gas while the officer's arm was still inside the vehicle, police said.

The officer fired at least one shot, but no one was struck, police said. The driver got away.

The officer, whose age was not available, was taken to Little Company of Mary with an injury to his wrist, police said. He was treated and released.
