Chicago Police HQ Has Unwelcome Guests: Bedbugs
(CBS) -- Bedbugs are taking a bite out of crime at Chicago Police headquarters.
Chicago police confirm they've been dealing with those unwelcome intruders at the Public Safety Building at 35th and Michigan.
Police Spokesman Martin Maloney writes in an email to WBBM "there have been some bed bugs in small areas" at the building.
"Fleet and Facility Management is already working on the problem and are confident the situation will be completely rectified," Maloney says.
That Public Safety Building includes police and Chicago Fire Department headquarters.
Last week, the Engine No. 76 firehouse in the 1700 of North Pulaski had a bedbug problem, Fire Department Spokesman Larry Langford says.
He says it was because somebody—without authorization—brought in box springs. At least one person was bitten.
Langford says the box springs were removed and destroyed. No more bed bugs have been found.
