Chicago Panel Drafts Resolution Condemning Discrimination Against Muslims
(CBS) -- A Chicago City Council Committee is recommending a resolution condemning anti-Muslim rhetoric and actions anywhere in the City.

Ald. Scott Waguespack (32nd Ward) says officials here and in cities across the nation are making sure they are on record standing with Muslim citizens.
It has no force of law, but members of the City Council's Human Relations Committee are recommending passage of a resolution condemning anti-Muslim hate speech, violence and discrimination.
Hira Siddiqui, a Junior at Amundsen High School, says such statements are welcome because people with anti-Muslim sentiments seem emboldened by the election of Donald Trump as U.S. president.
Sufiyan Sohel, deputy director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, says incidents of harassment and slurs against Muslims have been on the rise following the election.
The full council will take up the measure next week.
