1 dead, 2 injured after shooting in Morgan Park
A man is dead, and two others were injured after a shooting in Chicago's Morgan Park neighborhood on Wednesday night.
Police responded to the scene just before 11:30 p.m. Dispatch reports indicated that the shooting took place in the area of a laundromat in the 11100 block of South Longwood Drive.
First responders from the Chicago Fire Department found three victims in a sport-utility vehicle blocks away in the 10900 block of South Homewood Avenue, alongside Prospect Gardens Park. The first responders started to treat the victims for their injuries.
Police said a 28-year-old man was shot in the lower back and was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
A second man was shot multiple times and was taken to the same hospital in critical condition. Another 28-year-old man was taken to the same hospital in good condition with a gunshot wound to the foot.
As seen on video from the scene taken Wednesday night, Chicago police officers were spotted searching a white sport-utility vehicle where the victims were found on Homewood Avenue. The SUV was damaged with several bullet holes.
No arrests had been made as of Thursday morning.
Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
