Chicago Looking To Boost 'Cultural Mile' With Entertainment Offerings

(CBS/AP) -- You've heard of the Magnificent Mile, but what about the Cultural Mile?

City officials are giving you a new reason to visit the often forgotten stretch of Michigan Avenue.

"The Cultural Mile is Michigan Avenue from the (Chicago) River to Roosevelt, and east to the Museum Campus," says Shereen Shariatzadeh with the Chicago Cultural Mile Association.

"It's a really important stretch of Chicago but it hasn't been branded in a way that brings people off of the airplane or from the suburbs or from another part of the city," she adds.

Under a "2nd Fridays" initiative, discounted or free entertainment will be offered on the second Friday of every month.
