Chicago firefighters battle blaze in Brighton Park

Dog killed in Chicago apartment blaze

CHICAGO (CBS) — High wind helped fuel the flames of a destructive fire in Chicago's Brighton Park neighborhood.

The incident took place after 10:30 Wednesday morning near 39th and Rockwell.

It started on the porch of one apartment building and quickly spread to two other neighboring buildings.

A dog was killed in the fire. All of the residents made it out safely.

The Red Cross is helping several families find a new place to stay.
